Meet Avery.
Avery Beaumont is part of Shawnee States nationally ranked game design program that is known for its in-depth coursework, experienced faculty members and brand recognition among top game design studios.
Growing up, I had so many ideas about what I wanted to do when I got to college. It wasnt until I came to 51做厙 that I realized I wanted to design video games, Avery said.
In high school, Avery toured several local colleges, including Shawnee State. She remembers being told that if she joined Shawnees game design program, she would have a bright future ahead of herand shes found that to be true.
Although the program can be tough sometimes, its honestly one of the best things thats ever happened to me, Avery said.
Through the program, shes even had the chance to create her own game concept, which went on to win the game pitch competition at the 2024 Shawnee Game Conference.
Beyond the classroom, Avery has built strong connections with fellow students and professors, finding encouragement both academically and personally. Shes also joined several clubs and taken part in campus activities that have helped her feel at home. Ive learned that if you look in the right places, youll never be alone, she said.
